A successful fundraiser was held at the Paramount Cinema on Sunday 30 November. Due to the popularity of Gaylene Preston's "Hone Tuwhare - No Other Lips" we sold out our first session and promptly organised a 2nd screening to follow.
Once again Gaylene Preston spoke about the film and answered questions, at both screenings and we heard readings of Hone's poems. A short film loaned by Bruce Gatward-Cook of Hone's poem "drunk" was also screened during the first session.
DVD's of Gaylene's films - Hone Tuwhare, Lovely Rita and War Stories were available on the day for purchase - great Christmas presents!
A huge thank you to Gaylene for her ongoing support of Crossways and the importance of community; the Paramount Cinema, Bruce Gatward-Cook, to all who attended and to our volunteers particulary Pat McGiven for making this fundraiser a success.
